Great campground near Asheville! The tent pad had plenty of space for our 2 tents. The restrooms and showers were clean and convenient, and there's a nice lake nearby to hang out at. I expected mosquitoes, but there weren't any (in early May). We only had 2 issues but they're minor: the metal bear box at our site (Bent Creek Loop #27) was installed backwards... it opened into a patch of poison ivy instead of facing the driveway and campsite, so we kept our food in the car. The other small issue was the path from our site to the restroom was narrow with a lot of poison ivy along the way. A good trim would do well there. Otherwise, we had a great time and would stay again. Friendly and welcoming campground staff as well.

The staff at Lake Powhatan is simply super and at the heart of a most successful stay there. Mark and his people are constantly present for any questions or concerns. The bathrooms are immaculate all day long and the campsites are cleaned after every departure. Ice and wood for sale. Faulous experience.

The campground at Lake Powhatan is lovely, with beautifully spaced wooded campsites, some with shore power. It's a peaceful way to visit nearby Asheville, where you can buzz around seeing the sights, and then return to your campfire at night. My only complaint: our final night there, some drunken yahoo spent about 45 minutes revving and roaring around the campground in his very loud truck at 4AM, quite deliberately waking everyone in a half mile radius. I feel the campground hosts should be a little quicker off the mark in calling the police in. Other than that we had a great time there!

Beautiful campground on Asheville's doorstep, yet has the rural woodsy character that defines the perfect getaway. Easy access to BRP, Hendersonville, Black Mountain. The campground hosts are among the best I've ever seen. Friendly and efficient, and not once was the bath house anything but spotless. We will be back.

We only had an overnight stay, so didn’t get to use the whole facilities. But the staff at check-in was great. Very wooded area, close to Asheville, but still in the forest.

Absolute worst experience camping we've ever had.
I will begin by saying that the bathrooms are extremely clean, and the showers are very nice. That is the only positive thing about this campground. We planned a two night trip for a birthday and Mother's Day with my fiance and my in-laws. We made sure to follow all rules and regulations which were laid out to us upon arrival - we expected this to be a pretty strict campground given the conversation we had with the attendant, which is what we wanted! The first night, the group beside us were loud until well past midnight causing us to have to go out and get ear plugs in order to sleep, which was annoying but we were determined to still have a great time. The following night, however, on Saturday, the second group moved in. Keep in mind these sites are two tent max, two car max, and 8 people max. The group that moved in beside us, at one point, had 6 cars parked all along the road and on the forest floor (they eventually were told to move down to 4 vehicles, which they did - still breaking the rules, though). They had at least 10 people at their spot, and 4 large tents packed onto the tent pad. Clearly a situation where they needed a group campsite, which were available. The night began with extremely loud music and lots of drinking, then turned into late night drinking, even louder, again, well past midnight. At this point, our group had had enough, we didn't sleep at all hardly the first night, and the second night was infinitely louder than the first (ear plugs were no help). We decided at midnight to make the 3.5 hour trip back home and end what we had hoped to be a relaxing weekend with family early. I guess the campground is too close to downtown Asheville for it to be anything more than a party scene. Extremely disappointed and we won't be back.

The staff is so pleasant and helpful. The grounds are immaculate and the bathrooms are very clean. We have camped here for many years and the current staff is doing a great job. Keep it up!
