Beautiful, quiet campground. I don’t recall the descriptions of the sites, but would have likely picked a better (more level) parking area for our camper van. Great hiking trails!

Check-in instructions were awful. Instructions on entry kiosk originally told you to call the reservation phone number. Tried to check in with campsite host 3 times and they were never there. Campsites were super close together down by the river but were nice.

Park was beautiful and clean.
Campground host made the experience less than delightful. He was condescending and rude. Took the kids on a hike while my girlfriend slept off a migraine. Had the generator running and he pounded on the camper door and complained - said it should only be run intermittently. I understand that people want peace while camping. There are places that don’t allow generators at all. If you’re not in one of them, why would you expect people with campers to not use them if they can?

Love the tent camping area close to the creek. Hike to see the waterfalls. Can’t wait for it to get warmer for tubing.

Very nice campground. Gets a lot of traffic from others that are not camping. Expect late arrivals and they will probably be loud. This is the third time I have used this campground, and every time there are late arrivals. This time at 4:00am. There are better options if you want a little more privacy and quiet. Campsites are pretty close to each other.

We’ve been to GSMNP many times before this visit but we’d never stayed or visited the Deep Creek area. We loved the hiking accessibility to the waterfalls from our campsite and it was a really beautiful area. The only complaint, if you could even call it that, was that the check-in procedures should’ve been a little clearer. We arrived when the check-in booth was closed, but we had a required reservation and went straight to our site. We read the check-in procedures that were posted at the booth and it said to check in when the booth reopened. We got a visit from the camp hosts in their golf cart not long after our arrival on our site and they told us we should’ve stopped at their site to check in and this set of specific directions was not posted at the check in booth. I like to be informed and would’ve appreciated that being listed as a procedure if that’s what we’re supposed to do.
Also, are you ever going to go back to first come first serve sites?? It’s a real drag always having to have reservations especially when the cell phone service is so spotty throughout the park. My suggestion would be to have a few walk in sites available at every campground. It takes away from the spontaneous adventure when you have to be planned out days, weeks, sometimes months a head of time.
Thank you for reading.

Great set-up, easy check-in, loved listening to the stream at night, and the waterfall hike in the morning.
