What Guests Are Saying
Hawthorn Bluff offers a peaceful camping experience with beautiful lake views, well-maintained trails, and clean facilities, making it a popular choice for families and groups. While some RV sites are not level and certain amenities like hot water and flushing toilets experienced issues, the friendly staff and clean environment contribute positively to visitors' experiences. Overall, guests appreciate the campground's serene atmosphere and accessibility to nearby attractions, despite occasional maintenance concerns.

Beautiful campground. Water is available but you cannot stay hooked up to it. Must run off of your on board water. Skull Hollow hiking trail is nice. Will Rogers birthplace is close and a nice place to visit

Pros: nice big clean bathrooms, beautiful rock bluffs, great for canoes and kayaks, many sites near the water, nice fishing dock, nice playground. Convenient stores within 5 minutes or less. Cons: few flat sites, the ones near the water are very rocky, ONE water spicket for the entire campgrounds. There are technically three water spickets, but one is broken, the one near site 75 I could not find, so I assume it’s on the hosts site, leaving only one for everyone to share. I saw many people just washing their items in the restroom sinks. Oh, the roaring dam: All day and all night! If you’re a light sleeper, or children that get scared at night I would not recommend these campgrounds.

As always, it starts at the gate with great hostesses there. Then the sites are all great that we have used. 63 is one of the most unlevel and was easy to setup and level still. Campers, or neighbors as we call them, are great people too. We are already planning our next trip back.

Site descriptions on website are not accurate, especially driveway length.

We spent 4 days here and it was very nice place. The park was not that clean though with litter through out the park. Campsites were not cleaned between visitor either. Also most of the people were very friendly but there were some who would put a hose on the communial water spigot for their exclusive use even though there is a sign right on it saying not to or face a fine. But there was no host the whole time were there so I guess if there is no one to inforce the rules then there are no rules. Even seen one man take over a spigot to pressure wash his motorhome. We had nieghboring camps hold late night partys to wee hours of the morning with loud music and voices twice, but it was Friday and Saturday night so I can forgive that. Again, no host to enforce quiet time after 11pm. Bathrooms were reasonably clean but with only two fllush toilets in the camping area, one was out of order and the other was commandeered by someone talking on a cell phone for an hour instead of taking care of business was quite frustrating. It has a short hiking/walking trail that goes along the shore of the lake which was very pleasant. Also at the half way point there is access to a nice hiden cove that makes for a very nice people/dog beach. There was no public swimming at our end of the campground but the map showed swimming at the other side, which I didn't go to.
