What Guests Are Saying
Hawthorn Bluff offers a peaceful camping experience with beautiful lake views, well-maintained trails, and clean facilities, making it a popular choice for families and groups. While some RV sites are not level and certain amenities like hot water and flushing toilets experienced issues, the friendly staff and clean environment contribute positively to visitors' experiences. Overall, guests appreciate the campground's serene atmosphere and accessibility to nearby attractions, despite occasional maintenance concerns.

With the amount of people that stay at that campground and other state run parks there should be upgrades made to it. Please level the camper parking sites and install more water hydrants.
This is a nice place to camp but could be so much better

The cleanliness, maintenance, safety, and security of Hawthorne Bluff COE continues to erode over the past 2 years of our stays there.
-Campsites are not regularly cleaned, brush and fallen trees, if not pushed aside, are left laying where they fall.
-Fire rings are not cleaned out
-overhead dead limbs are not removed and risk falling on our RV’s and tow vehicles
-streets are filled with dead limbs, leaves, and run-off gravel, and litter trash
-Trash receptacles and area is littered and dirty
-streets are littered and in need of repair
-Playground is in dire need of update!
- campers and corp staff routinely drive in the opposite direction of traffic, and speed, setting a bad example for our campers
-electrical system is aged. Several times a day we experience over-voltages and electrical failures. The electrical system is unreliable. Most campers do not know their Rv has experienced several “over-voltages@ during their stay. We have a surge-guard that tracks these over-voltages; the problem is it appears your project manager and his rangers do not concern themselves with this dangerous risk towards their campers!
-camp host is not present and disassociated with site operations.
Your bathroom cleaning crew are outstanding!
We love a Hawthorn, and it hurts me to post my experience of our recent stays, but the Commander of the Tulsa Region needs to take action immediately to resolve these chronic issues.
Thank you!
Robert

Was a great location and staff were great and helped with things before we even asked. One of the better sights for staff and RV sites. Lake is great.

The facilities were extremely clean. The female Host as you entered was one of the sweetest and caring persons I have ever met. You do not always find that. I locked us out of our RV. She went above and beyond her duties as a Host to help us. We will be back next year and rent a boat to see the lake from a different perspective. We enjoyed driving around Claremore and Tulsa during our visit. If I could rate our experience, I would give our visit five out of five stars ⭐️.

I rented the space specifically to clean up the site. I spent several hours weed eating around the site for future use. The maintenance has been virtually non existent for a couple of years. This could be a beautiful campground with more effort. We spent time there in April and I observed no visible signs of preparations for the opening day. Leaves were awful. This provides cover for baby Copperheads. I would suggest having a volunteer clean up week prior to opening on April 1.

Everything was great except for the homeless man that was hanging around and digging in the dumpster. He stayed by our campsite the entire weekend. The camp workers didn't seem to care about him being there.
