What Guests Are Saying
Hawthorn Bluff offers a peaceful camping experience with beautiful lake views, well-maintained trails, and clean facilities, making it a popular choice for families and groups. While some RV sites are not level and certain amenities like hot water and flushing toilets experienced issues, the friendly staff and clean environment contribute positively to visitors' experiences. Overall, guests appreciate the campground's serene atmosphere and accessibility to nearby attractions, despite occasional maintenance concerns.

Nice and peaceful! Great for fishing as long as the park attendants don't let the locals crowd the dock that is purely stated on the signage "For Registered Guest Only".

I have stayed at HBluff several times in past years, staff was always friendly. This time was not a great camping experience. First complaint was when I made reservations I couldn't reserve a front row water spot, I was told they were all taken. Several were empty the whole time we were there. The big complaint; we were not able to make it back at 10 pm one night (was back at 10:1o or 10:15) gate was locked and no way to get in. No pass code, no combination lock, nothing. I knock at the host door and was told he would not let us in. Had to leave our truck and valuables outside the gate and hike in to our camp site. Everyone cannot always make it back at the gate locking time because of factors beyond their control such as be at intermediate care. With four or five full time host campers at a park it seems like one would be available later if the park cannot have a code locking gate.

Too many trees by entrance to each camp site, hard to get camper in spot. Trees to close for slide outs. Need 50 amps put it. Playground needs a security light. And dog leashes need to be enforced.

Confusion existed over what sites had reservations in place. Had to call rec.gov to straighten it out. Some sites were `reserved' but no one ever showed up.
