It's a beautiful location, great for kayaking on the Siltcoos River and close to beautiful beaches on the Pacific Coast. Sites are private, surrounded by bushes. The hike to the ocean is really nice. Didn't give 5 stars because you can hear the ATV's in the near dunes during the day....

The campsite we had was perfect for our family and dog. And the camp hosts were so nice and shared some of their personal firewood with us because we forgot ours. Would definitely recommend to others and plan on going back this year.

In todays covid world we have learned to make plans way in advance. The last two years that we have stayed in Waxmyrtle CG, there were ALWAYS some sites that were first come first served. This year we counted on that and arrived August 2nd, at a normally slow time, to get a campsite for 8 days (over the labor day weekend). Imagine our chagrin when the camp host told us that ALL SITES were now reservation only. We were told that the change was made two weeks before (in the middle of the current camping season.) We were only able to secure a campsite for 4 days, and then had to move. There was literally no campsites available near Waxmyrtle to go to. We had to move to the parking lot of the nearby Indian Casino, just to find a place to park our RV. I can understand making changes, but it would seem a much better, and fairer way would be to make that decision at the beginning of the year. Not when someone has been out camping for awhile, in different states and without notification of this immediate change. I am registered with Recreation.gov and no email or any print notification was found that could have prepared us for this extreme change.

Had a really good time it was clean really neat trails it’s just really hard to get phone reception to make a reservation if you’re just coming in for the day or a day or two

We really enjoyed our stay, with the many trails, helpful, friendly hosts by entrance and quiet camp. Already checked out a site for next year!! Missed the access to the showers, but understand situation. Thank you!

Whoever designed this campground was an idiot. the sites are at bizarre angles requiring most vehicles to go the wrong way on a long, narrow, loop road to be able to get into the site. Other than that, nice camping.

This was our first time at this campground and camping in the Florence area. We were concerned with OHV noise and crowd (partying) and loved that this campground did not allow OHV's. We checked out the other campgrounds in the area (Lagoon, Driftwood, Siltcoos) and they were either full of OHV's or too close to the dunes/noise. Our first site was #37 and appeared to be shared with the adjacent site- luckily it was vacant and we had the place to ourselves. We moved the next day and most of the back-in sites have great privacy among the tall brush. Hosts kept the bathrooms clean and no parties/drinking while we were there. If I were to go again, I will stay at one of the sites closest to the river with direct access to the Waxmyrtle Trail (highly recommended!)

There is a 14-day in 30 rolling days camping limit on the Siuslaw National Forest. The 14 days does not have to be consecutive. The 14-day limit covers the entire Siuslaw National Forest and not just this campground as shown in the Rules Section. This means you cannot go to other campgrounds on the Siuslaw National Forest after reaching the 14-day limit. |
