Our campsite had a good separation from next door campsites because of the dense shrubbery. Clean bathrooms and campsites. We had some coverage with Verizon. It's a great paddle up to Siltcoos Lake and down to the beach on kayaks. Can be shallow depending on tide. The bank was not ideal for launching kayaks and varies alot with the tides. You can hear the ATV's in the distance so I wouldn't call it a quiet campground. Overall, a great place to camp, especially when it was hot in the valley.

Most sites are good for RV's but #16 has a lot of green space for tents as do some others. Only the first 1-10 ish sites are close to water. We thought it would be a good spot to put in kayaks, but not so much. It was still a great time and we really enjoyed going to the Sea Lion Caves and Heceta Lighthouse in lieu of boating. Be aware, #16 is next to the bathrooms, which are infrequently visited because I guess RV folks use their own, but there is a bright light on the back of the building all through the night. GREAT camp host! And the hike to the beach was beautiful, wish I had more time to hike up and down the beach (wet sand only!) Also, for some reason, the RV across from us ran an insanely loud generator ALL NIGHT. No other RV's did this and the OGV's were silent after 10pm so they didn't bother us at all.

Cell phone service not very good, so if you are on site and are trying to make a reservation it is best to call the number on the sign. All of the volunteers were great and very helpful. Will be back again.

Even though there are no water or electric hookups at each site, this is a very good camping experience. Close to the beach and river with plenty of trails to walk. I would camp here again.

It was well maintained. We had plenty of space and pretty good privacy (at most of the sites we looked at). Easy to find. The site map on rec.gov needs to be updated, the restroom locations are misleading. The camp host and wildlife volunteer were very nice.

There is a 14-day in 30 rolling days camping limit on the Siuslaw National Forest. The 14 days does not have to be consecutive. The 14-day limit covers the entire Siuslaw National Forest and not just this campground as shown in the Rules Section. This means you cannot go to other campgrounds on the Siuslaw National Forest after reaching the 14-day limit. |
