Great place to camp if you enjoy proximity to hiking trails, paddling and OHV recreation. Restroom facilities are a bit run-down and sometimes underserviced, but the camping environment is lovely. Not recommended if you are bothered by the sound of late-night OHV action in the nearby dunes, although they usually wrap up their activities by midnight.

It was pretty noisy when we were there. No active host. Federal officials came by once to align a nearby party that was out of compliance. The nature volunteer was friendly and informative!

Restrictions on access to the beach due to the Snowy Plover limited our recreation opportunities. And our site was connected to the adjacent one so no privacy at all.

The campground was very quiet. The bathrooms were kept very clean. We enjoyed our visit on the coast.

I would have given 5 stars however, you really need to highlight the fact that the beach at the campground, and the trails are closed for 6 months out of the year for the Snowy Plover nesting. It makes a real difference to those of us who travel with our dogs, as we were extremely limited on the places we could go with our dog. So, if you travel with a dog, this is not the place to go between Sept 15 thru Mar 15 (6 MONTHS!) We enjoyed the campground itself though. Very nice, clean and well spaced for privacy. But the dog restrictions were a bummer for us, so we will not come back.

There is a 14-day in 30 rolling days camping limit on the Siuslaw National Forest. The 14 days does not have to be consecutive. The 14-day limit covers the entire Siuslaw National Forest and not just this campground as shown in the Rules Section. This means you cannot go to other campgrounds on the Siuslaw National Forest after reaching the 14-day limit. |
