Campsite was too small to actually use. Our one tent had to be pitched on the edge of the site and was still barely over a foot from the fire pit. There was no privacy whatsoever and the campers next to us were up till 2am blasting music and drinking. Which meant my kids and I barely got any sleep, camp host no where to be found. Bathrooms were dirty and had fecal covered toilet paper and urine all over floors. And our campsite also had garbage from previous campers and dirty toilet paper hung from a tree. We were extremely disappointed with our trip and experience.

It's great. It's halfway between a Honeyman campground and a dune buggying campground in terms of style.

Private site was great, close to river, easy for kids.
Only drawback was no showers, however neighbouring campsite has pay showers you can visit.

I especially enjoyed meeting and talking with your Wildlife Host. The fact that she has been there at Waxmyrtle for over 5 years says a whole lot to me.

Most of the sites are small and should be advertised as shared sites. We were at site 38 and the adjoining site set-up their tent less than 5 feet from ours…

Bathrooms were clean and tent site was flat and soft. The site was cozy but not too small but lacked in privacy from neighbors. The site was full of trash which we didn't notice until the next morning, we woke up to flies buzzing around feeding on the garbage scattered everywhere. The campground overall seemed nice enough so it may have been campers before us leaving a mess. We normally like to wake up slow and grab coffee but we didn't have a real trash bag or gloves and didn't want to eat breakfast surrounded by trash and flies so we took off early.
This is likely not the fault of the host.. but when we got to our site after 10 PM someone else had set up camp. The entrance did state that the grounds were full but there weren't "reserved" tags so the couple assumed nobody was coming. Since it was so late and they had no where else to go we agreed to let them stay in the site as we aren't confrontational and felt uncomfortable telling them to leave. We didn't feel it was an emergency so we didn't bother the hosts, but I admit I lost some sleep worrying we would get fined for having an extra car/tent/people on the site with us.
We would consider camping here again although we will try to show up earlier and bring an extra trash bag/gloves to pick up the site in case it's dirty.

Nice setting with a great sandy hiking trail to the beach. Would have been a higher rating, but it seems like the local population has no respect for others, as both our campsite and the one next to it had used toilet paper on the ground next to the bushes. This happened even though the bathroom was right across the street. There was a lot of other trash just left behind as well. You would think the people of Oregon would show a little more care for their beautiful state.

We love this campground. It would have got 5 stars if it still had a posted map at the front board and self service checkin tickets for the site post and or dashboard.
These are campground basics.

Wonderful campground along the Siltcoos River. Great separation between sires. Clean bathrooms, and plenty of hiking, kayaking, and biking opportunities. Loved loved this place. Will return.

There is a 14-day in 30 rolling days camping limit on the Siuslaw National Forest. The 14 days does not have to be consecutive. The 14-day limit covers the entire Siuslaw National Forest and not just this campground as shown in the Rules Section. This means you cannot go to other campgrounds on the Siuslaw National Forest after reaching the 14-day limit. |
