About Ebenezer Park

Ebenezer Park features some of the most beautiful horseback riding trails in southeast Texas. It's the only Army Corps of Engineers park on Sam Rayburn Reservoir with equestrian campsites, making it the go-to destination for horse-owners. The horse trail terrain is soft and sandy, so horseshoes are not required. Trails glide over rolling hills through creeks and gullies. Some trails even have beach access, allowing riders and their horses to cool off on a hot day. Note: The horse access beach and majority of the trail system are located on USFS property.

I used Site #11. The electricity worked fine this time. However, the horse pens were deplorable. Yes, it rained, so a certain amount of mud was inevitable, but my horse had mud over his fetlock’s. I had my boots sucked off my feet when I haltered him. The stalls desperately need sand added, and lots of it. Also, it wold have helped enormously to have the picnic pads at 111, 12, and 13 covered, like all the others are.

The camp is always friendly and the hosts were helpful but the pens we in terrible condition with standing water. It did rain one day but the pens aren’t graded to drain and sand needs to be replaced. The trails were great! We love coming!

The horse pens were nothing but pig pens. Please bring sand in. Some people tied their horses to their trailers.

The pens were in terrible condition. They were muddy when we arrived and only got worse. My two pens had not been cleaned when the previous campers left. There was a lot of manure and rotting hay.

I always enjoy my time at Ebenezer. But this time the horse pens had not been cleaned out by the previous camper. Other campers at an earlier date shared the same concern. I was not checked to have a current Coggins for my horse, and I like knowing that other campers have had that checked as well. I noticed that the manure was being spread by the camp hosts which is appreciated.

The park was well maintained and the hosts were very helpful and informative. The trails are easy to access with some great hills and water crossings.
