Cougar Rock Campground offers spacious, clean sites with good privacy and easy access to Mount Rainier trails, making it an ideal base for outdoor enthusiasts. The bathrooms are well-maintained, although some reviewers noted a lack of warm water and soap. Challenges include difficult campsite reservations and occasional issues with nearby campers, but the overall experience is positive, with many expressing a desire to return.

Booked at a first come site at Cougar Rock Campground without any problem. Site was clean and comfortable. Rangers were always present and accommodating. Restroom was clean. Spent 4 days there while doing a series of challenging day hikes. Great base camp for exploring the park. Only downside was having Stevens Canyon Rd closed which limited access to the other side of the mtn. That was really a quality problem because there was plenty to do on the Longmire side.

Pros:
Nice campground. Everyone was respectful and loop C has a host living on it. Bathrooms were cleaned thoroughly ever day.
Cons:
As of summer 2023 a tree has been cut up and encroaching on the useable tent surface. A 7x9 tent fit but it was a bit tight. The site sits very close to another site and in close proximity to the bathroom. So you will get some light and noise coming from the bathroom doors, which started around 5am when we were there.

Real close to a trail that takes you to the nearby visitor center and branches off into other great trails. Clean bathrooms. Nice quiet campground.

We stayed at Cougar Rock for two nights with our toddler. The first night (campsite D11) we ended up next to some very noisy RV campers (cooking meals at 11 PM, elementary-aged children yelling, and headlamps flashing at our tent until after midnight). We spoke with Josh at the Ranger Station and he was so kind and moved us to a more secluded campsite. The next night was perfect-quiet and private. Would definitely stay here again if we could snag a more private campsite!

The campground is kept very clean, including the bathrooms. Our site had numerous dead/fallen trees, which seemed like a fire hazard. The staff at check-in were very nice & helpful.

Well kept campsite with nearby water and flush toilets. The tent area was very good. Almost new picnic table. Quick and easy check in. Paradise was almost an hour up the road from the campsite.

I love that campground. There is stargazing at the Paradise visitor center and it is absolutely amazing. We did two hikes that were close to the campground and had a great experience with nature. I highly recommend this campground.

Campsite was clean and fairly private. It was on a corner and could be a little hard to pull into if you had a larger vehicle. Bathrooms were kept up and a short walk from campsite. Good location.
