What Guests Are Saying
Cougar Rock Campground offers spacious, clean sites with good privacy and easy access to Mount Rainier trails, making it an ideal base for outdoor enthusiasts. The bathrooms are well-maintained, although some reviewers noted a lack of warm water and soap. Challenges include difficult campsite reservations and occasional issues with nearby campers, but the overall experience is positive, with many expressing a desire to return.

Had RV, and dumping station was closed.
But other than that, everything was pretty normal as any other campground.

Hot & dry, pray for rain. Lot’s of maintenance backlog, numerous sites are closed due to hazard trees needing to be removed. Limited staff, bathrooms ok but the one in A/B loop was always overly busy, I think the one on the next loop over may have been out of service. Interaction with NPS staff always positive but hey, let’s get this park some money to take care of the place! This is America’s 5th oldest NP.

Very nice site - on the larger side. We had a 4-person tent and it was easy to set up in the space. Wished we had brought our hammock, plenty of trees to hold it. Fire pit but no bear-box for food storage. We had to cross another site to go to the bathroom a bit downhill. Garbage boxes near the bathroom but away enough from site. easy enough as the site was not occupied. no mosquitoes on the 4th of July weekend. beautiful hikes around. Will be back.

Went late June, the campground was clean and quiet. No issues with check in

Very nice, although trail access is somewhat limited (really only two options).

Would have enjoyed the experience more if generator use had been enforced. Several campsites near us, B17, ran generators during non-generator hours for long periods of time.

Great campground with nice, nook-like forest campsites among the boulders making the camping experience feel more private than typical in national park campgrounds. Excellent walking access to the Wonderland Trail and Nisqually River flowing from the Nisqually Glacier. Will definitely return!

Beautiful campground. Big and private sites. Easy walk to restrooms. Great view of Mount Rainier across the road. Loved staying here.

We loved the campground. We had site D12. It was a quite difficult to get the motorhome level. I thibk there are other numbers that are leveler. We have a 29’ and it fit well. The campsite is near the river with view on the mountain. Too bad the dump is closed this year. No cell phone reception whatsoever not for Verizon/Tmobile and non for AT&T
