Cougar Rock Campground offers spacious, clean sites with good privacy and easy access to Mount Rainier trails, making it an ideal base for outdoor enthusiasts. The bathrooms are well-maintained, although some reviewers noted a lack of warm water and soap. Challenges include difficult campsite reservations and occasional issues with nearby campers, but the overall experience is positive, with many expressing a desire to return.

We stayed at B029 in a large tent and it wasn’t bad. We didn’t think that RV sites usually meant uneven terrain but we lucked out. We were able to put up a 10-person tent, park my Highlander next to it, park our 4Runner with batwing awning, and a bathroom shower tent between them all on the RV pad. We then had lots of ground space for the campsite activities and kitchen setup. Bear box on site with picnic table and decent fire ring. Fire ring has a clam style grate that can sit over or fold backward away.
This is our second time at Cougar rock this 2023 season and they definitely need to clean up their forest. So many dead or dying trees need to be felled. We had small twigs and branches fall while we were there for 2 nights. Nobody was hit but it is clear there are hazards, hence the 4-star. Site gets partial sunlight that rotates around the trees so using our solar panel for our Jackery worked even though we had to chase the Sun spots throughout the day.

Great campgrounds. Clean, and well maintained sites. Water fountains were not working. Other than that was a great stay.
