This campground is very well maintained and in a great location surrounded by, or not far from, hiking trails. The sites are clean and somewhat secluded from your neighbor. It's about a 20min drive to Paradise, which has all the Mount Rainier accessible trails and full wifi. I'd definitely stay here, again!

Awesome place, paper towel in the restroom always refilled, campground host always patrolling the area which was great. Carter falls trailhead just yards away from the main campground entrance and it was nice to hangout next to the river around 6 pm when no one around

My wife and I stayed three nights on B-Loop and it was very peaceful. Bathrooms had flush toilets--nice. A bit of a walk to them. Will pick one closer next time. Big complaint-- firewood cannot be purchased at the campground!! The shed was full of firewood and ranger said they just store it there....huh? He couldn't understand either. You have to buy it before entering park or go to Longmire store to buy for $13.80 + tax per bundle!!! And the bundles were smallish. I spent $60 for four bundles--outrageous. Why doesn't park management address this issue and try to help campers? I could afford it but many can't. The staff should try to HELP campers, not make it difficult. Just don't understand....
Cougar Rock is close to several nice hiking trails, including Carter Falls, Comet Falls and parts of Wonderland Trail.

Arrived with a group needing 3 campsites and did not have a reservation. The ranger was fantastic finding sites that accommodated our tent sizes and were close together. The sites were perfect, the weather was fantastic as always, and we had a great time.

The campsite is pretty small. It barely fit my 3man tent. If you have a bigger tent, it would definitely not fit - at least in my site.

lovely foresty campground on the southwest side of the park! we were able to snag a spot via rec.gov the night prior. our spot (D36) was a bit small, but fit our 19ft van (any bigger would have been tight) and we were able to string up a hammock. we walked around all the loops with our dog, it’s a huge campground with many lovely spots, ranging all different sizes. first come first serve might have provided us a cooler spot, but we were a cross from the clean bathrooms, there is potable water available, and it was quiet, so we can’t complain!
