What Guests Are Saying
Lower Falls Campground features spacious, well-maintained campsites with ample shade and beautiful riverside views, making it an ideal spot for nature lovers. The breathtaking nearby waterfalls and numerous hiking trails enhance the camping experience, although the campground lacks adequate water stations and has issues with cleanliness in the bathrooms. Overall, visitors appreciate the serene environment, helpful camp hosts, and the opportunity to disconnect from technology in a picturesque setting.

We absolutely loved our camping experience at Lower Falls. It was quiet, clean and a beautiful spot that had a fire pit, ample parking and space to ourselves. We realized that driving time really made it more of a 2 night destination from where we were driving from, and we had only 1 night planned for our trip. Next time we will allot for 2 days to camp and explore.
The only thing that made our trip a little bit confusing was that there seemed to be a lack of signage that helped direct visitors to the lower/middle/upper falls on the foot trails (particularly at the lower falls). Ourselves and other individuals we encountered on the trails, either day hikers or campers, seemed to be a bit lost when trying to find the lower falls specifically, and the ambiguity left for a lot of possibilities for getting lost or not being confident on the trails. We were able to ask a ranger for directions to clarify which direction to turn on the trail to the lower falls, but noticed that other people had turned back while on the same trail without knowing if they were going in the right direction.
Overall, we had an absolutely wonderful experience and we can't wait to go back!

Easy access to the Lewis River from most campsites (1-5 min walk). The river level in late July was deep enough to swim in spots and wade in other areas. Heavy day use in spite of COVID closure of day use parking areas. Toilets were cleaned daily.

Love this place cannot wait to come back. I felt bad that the parking lot was closed to hikers but enjoyed the tranquility it brought to a normally extremely populated trail.

Good place to camp close to the waterfall. Clean not a lot of trash. SO KEEP IT THAT WAY PEOPLE. Good place for your kids to get outdoors and swim.

Clean and spacious site in lower falls campground. Short walk to the falls/river and rangers were all so nice upon check in and check out.

Amazing campground, huge sites. Save yourself the headache and pack in water - even if the pumps are working, there are few and they look as old as dinosaurs.

Never tire of Lower Falls. Just stunning. In beautiful condition, as always. Great idea to close day-use in the midst of Covid. You guys are the best.

The campground itself is fine. The Lower Falls Recreation Area is currently closed so there is no access to the Lower, Middle, or Upper Falls - all are blocked. I assume it is due to Covid-19 but there is very little information posted anywhere. Forest Service Road 90 doesn't appear to have received any repair or maintenance this year. While it is a paved road it is in worse shape than many logging roads. There are stretches between Curly Creek and Cougar and Quartz Creek to FS 88 (closed) that have major pothole damage and in parts the road has simply collapsed.
Except for a hand pump there are no amenities at the campground; the nearest ice and firewood are at a general store 12 miles west of the campground. Due to Covid-19, the showers there are closed.
