Wide open (limited shade) and dusty. Big sites allowed multiple big groups (loud and not respectful of quiet hours). Lots of noise (ATVs and generators). I wouldn't stay here again (by choice), at least not in a tent.

The campsites are very small with limited trees. Only one bathroom at the start of camp.
On the plus side, there were very few bugs and the lake is great for paddle boarding!

Worst trip ever! It starts off with the "camp host" being a squatter enjoying a place to stay with a lake to go play in. Being responsible for keeping the peace is optional. There was anywhere from 2-3 additional trailers per site. Ten or more people plus all the cars that they drove in with. People had there dogs running loose and with those dogs would go through other people's sites to play their games. All this spells disaster and after many nights of all night parties and generators running end in confrontation between campers. When the camp host was asked for help to go around and ask for everyone to quite it down a bit and turn off generators he got up turned off his lights and refused to open the door. Forest service was collecting money for extra vehicles but never once had people follow campsite rules (e.g.. camp somewhere else if you are over the allowed number and cars, generator and quiet hours). So now we mark this place down as another lawless campsite like Stampede. What is really sad is camping is a place people go to enjoy nature, have a quite place away from all the stress of town and work, and be able to just relax. Now it is about who can be loudest, who can rip it up on the lake, and a dog park. Forest service had plenty of opportunities to remedy the problem but chose to turn a blind eye. Hopefully someone will do something before this end with someone getting seriously hurt, like falling of the roof of a party bus. Sad stuff. Also, the forest sevice may want to look into how much money came in for extra vehicles because I did see their employee collecting money but not sure how much actually made it into the office.

People riding dirt motorcycles everywhere, even right through my campsite down to the lake on a trail that says “no motor vehicles allowed “, no enforcement by host or rangers.
People across from me running their generator until 11:00 on.
No host around , and once a day the ranger drives through, pretty noisy place, I won’t be back !

Restrooms were not adequately stocked despite us asking camp host for more supplies.

We pulled in to Lakeside at Truckee, but ended up not staying. The site was about 8 feet from the outhouse and dumpsters lined the side of the campsite. Some sites at this campground looked quite spacious, but the one we reserved was tiny, had no shade or privacy. We drove on and found some dispersed camping that was nicer. Since so many campgrounds now require reservations, Recreation.gov could do everybody a great service by having a comprehensive library of photos showing campsites. I'm sure there are volunteers who would do the photography and the posting.

Prossor Lakeside is one of my favorite places to camp and I go there often. I would absolutely give it an excellent rating but sadly over the years the camp hosts have gotten less and less friendly. I think that is an important part of the camp hosts job.
