What Guests Are Saying

Camp Dick is praised for its cleanliness, friendly hosts, and beautiful, well-spaced campsites. Visitors enjoyed the excellent hiking and fishing opportunities, with sightings of wildlife like moose enhancing the experience. However, some noted issues with rough access roads, noise from ATVs, and inconsistent water availability, which could detract from the overall enjoyment.

Camp Dick is an otherwise excellent campground within a short distance from the Denver/Boulder area. Unfortunately, that proximity is causing this campground to lose it’s 5 star rating.
I don’t understand the unchecked growth of off-road vehicles is crazy. I’ve been coming here for several years and it used to be maybe 25% of visitors were ORV’s. The Middle St. Vrain Trailhead was choked with motorized vehicles on the week after Labor Day.
Doesn’t seem to be a balanced usage by the USFS.
Still. A beautiful place if you can get a spot .

No camp host to be found anywhere. We were trying to move spots and there was no one to help us. The one bathroom was covered in poop but the other side was great. Not sure what happened there.

It was really cool. There were lots of trees and a moose ran through everything and it had a baby. Also made hamburgers on a fire that were really good. Sleeping bag was comfortable.

We had perfect weather and I actually saw a shooting star. The drawback was that the latrines seem to have had ammonia poured into them in the morning which stung my eyes and made it feel like it was hard to breathe. It was truly overwhelming. Each day the smell dissipated a bit so it was tolerable by afternoon. However the next day it was horrible again. The other issue was that there were so many empty campsites that had never been released when the reservation had expired. I talked to a couple who said that they had tried to get a spot and it looked online like the campground was completely full, but it was probably 90% empty. The camp host should remove the red "reserved" signs and put out a blue "available" sign. Also there should be a way for the park service to be notified by the camp host when there's been a 24-hour no-show so that people looking online can get a beautiful spot.
