This campground has good sites for tents as well as RVs. Everything is well maintained, the pit toilets are kept clean. Be aware, there is no water available in the campground (but that may change in the next several years). There is free spring water in nearby Allenspark. No cellular service at all in the campground. This campground is close to Wild Basin. Plus there are a few hiking trails from Allenspark which connect up with Wild Basin trails.

Stayed at Pika 44 and although the site was nice and spread out, you had a clear view of your neighbors to all sides. The site was shaded and trees were around, just not enough to block the view so privacy wise, this won't be the spot for you. Two bathrooms were close and clean but STUNK. They needed a cleaning tablet or whatever they put in there to help. It was hard to just pee because of the overwhelming smell. Host came by and was nice. Left us alone after that. Everyone seemed to abide by the quiet hours.

Site 50 was not camper friendly. Thankfully we were tent camping, but hauling our gear up the cliff was not ideal.

There's something wrong with the reservation system. This is the 2nd year in a row the same thing has happened.
As soon as reservations are open, you can book the weekdays BUT NOT FRI-SUN - when reservations open up they ALL say "reserved" (this is for ALL RESERVABLE SITES).
And they remain reserved up until a week before the date, even though nobody would be able to reserve them. I know this because I checked EVERY DAY leading up to our trip and FRI-SAT-SUN remained blocked for ALL RESERVABLE SITES.
In our case we book 6/17-6/20 the day reservations opened. Every single reservable site had Fri-Sun blocked up until the week of - in our case on the 17th the Fri-Sun 21-23 opened up as reservable. This happened the same last year (2023) as well.
Our stay was quite pleasant though and the camp host was wonderful!

This campground is very secluded in the National Forest. No amenities but we were able to use our generator during hours of 8 am to 10 pm. Host was very nice. The site we reserved was small/short for our 31 ft travel trailer so the host put us in a first come/first serve site that was a better fit. Enjoyed visiting Rocky Mtn NP and the town of Estes during our stay.

Very pleasant campground, sufficient distance to neighbours, nice and helpful camp ground manager.
Sometimes deers or moose walk through, they seem to like it as well.
No water at the campground, bring your own. Toilets very clean.
We enjoyed it, stayed there >10 days. Used it as base camp for hikes in Rocky Mnt Ntl park and around.

We had a great time in spot 47. It is near the back and there were plenty of rocks and forests for my 7 and 11 year old girls to explore. Bathrooms were kept clean by host and it was quiet throughout. Great experience
