The guy at the check in booth at my checkin the night of May 29th was so nice explaining everything. Even offered to delivered the firewood I bought to my campsite as I was on a motorcycle. Just awesome !!

The campground was easy to find, my site was pretty level, the bathrooms were warm but dirty. Check in process was easy with friendly staff.

Lake Powhatan has become an annual visit for us. Close to friends in the area as well as access to some of the best stuff WNC has to offer, whether a tour of the local brewery or a ride on the BR parkway. I brought my bike this time and thoroughly enjoyed the trails in the area.

Quiet, peaceful, well maintained and clean. We had an exceptional stay at Lake Powhatan- easy step off for Pisgah NF, Asheville, or the BRP.

Lovely, quiet site. Just a little occasional noise from a road down the hill. Friendly people at the gatehouse, camp hosts coming around in golf carts, very well-maintained campground and I felt very safe as a woman camping alone. There was a black bear alert while I was there, but I took precautions (locking up food in my car) and had no trouble.
The path to the bathhouse from this site is across the small one-way loop road and just a little tricky, I suggest finding the way there and back first in daylight or you might end up cutting through someone else's campsite, ask me how I know :)
I was pleased to find that I had two bars of cell service with Verizon. I agree with other that the showers have low water pressure and you have to stand very near the wall to use them, but I found it manageable. Bathhouse was clean and water was warm. Excellent camping experience, only 20 minutes from my appointment the next morning in Asheville, I'll be back!
