What Guests Are Saying
Jackrabbit Mountain is a beautiful campground with scenic lake views and well-maintained hiking and biking trails. Many campers appreciate the clean bathrooms and spacious, private campsites, making it a great spot for families and nature enthusiasts. While some facilities could use improvement, such as the bathroom hooks and the absence of firewood for sale, the overall experience remains positive, with friendly hosts and a peaceful atmosphere.

We’ve been visiting this campground for years because of the mountain bike trail system as well as access to the lake from most of the campsites. I will say on this last visit I never saw anyone clean the bathrooms on the B loop. There weren’t that many people there during the week in September but the bathrooms still needed to be cleaned. And wish this campground would keep soap in the bathroom. Other than that will continue to visit every year.

The campground map and photos led us to believe that our site at C-88 was away from the bathroom and had a pull down driveway. Both are inaccurate. We have a small travel trailer and parked it on the road... about 12 feet in front of the bath house for the loop. The map indicated the bath house was at the top of the loop and that our site was on the side and behind the bath house... the bath house is at the top of the loop. And the door slams. All. Night. Long. Wham, just as we doze off, Wham at 2 am, Wham before coffee, Wham with breakfast. It was terrible, we left after one night. To be fair, tent campers are below grade of the road, and would likely be more insulated. Would not recommend C loop for any type of camper / RV set up. Wham. It soured us on the whole campground but we drove through the other loops and thought they were better planned out for campers. Lots of recreation possibilities here and someday we'll be back, but definitely not on C loop! Wham!

Although I was skeptical because no water or electricity at sites for RVs that didn't matter days filled with boating on beautiful Lake Chatuge with 360 degree views of mountains and starry filled nights in pitch black sky's made it all worth while !!!

Pros: Beautiful lakefront campsites. Some have direct access to water, some have a drop off. Nice camp hosts (new this year 2023). Great for relaxing and wonderful lake views. Sites are clean and water is nearby. Cons: no hot water in bathrooms (so cold showers), no soap in the bathroom and if you leave soap for other campers (even no mess liquid soap), the cleaning service takes them (even when full!). That is absurd. Camp hosts warned us about this but didn't believe the cleaning service would take full containers of liquid soap. No firewood or ice for sale, have to bring it in yourself. Overall very nice campground but only worth a stay for 3-4 nights as not much to do around there.

I enjoyed my stay at Jackrabbit. I camped there in order to ride the mountain bike trails , which were awesome, The restrooms were clean and hot showers, I tent camp, at 18.00 per night it was a bargain. I'll be back.

Stayed at 41. It is close to 42, we were at higher ground and you have a good view of camp site 42. their campsite is about 30 away. you can hear them casually talking and theres lack of foilage between these 2 campsites. there is an easy walk to water though woods. when going to water paths goes to right due to fallen trees and blocked access. campsites 46 45 42 and 41 end up sharing the water access at the same spot. the ground is soft there and to the left is red muddy clay and fallen wood, thats why these sites access the same spot. most leave their kayaks and paddle boards at the water. water access isn't the swim/beach type. tent pad about 14 x 22. campsite 48 is best 50 2nd. 55 has max privacy and borders much water.
