What Guests Are Saying
Lower Falls Campground features spacious, well-maintained campsites with ample shade and beautiful riverside views, making it an ideal spot for nature lovers. The breathtaking nearby waterfalls and numerous hiking trails enhance the camping experience, although the campground lacks adequate water stations and has issues with cleanliness in the bathrooms. Overall, visitors appreciate the serene environment, helpful camp hosts, and the opportunity to disconnect from technology in a picturesque setting.

Upper loop backs up to Forest Rd 90 so you will hear traffic if you take any of the sites from 39 to 33. That said, the sites are nice, plenty of shading from the tall firs, enough vault toilets to keep smells down, The Lower Falls are lovely with a nice deep hole at the base. The Lewis River trail from Lower Falls to Upper falls is nice, easy enough for these 67 year old legs. We found some lovely Lobster Mushrooms ( late September camping dates). The Lower loop is along the river and some distance from the road. Nearest ice and cell service is 20 minutes from campsite.

The campground is wonderfully quiet, well maintained, and situated beautifully on the river. I wasn't quite prepared for no running water--I guess I didn't read everything carefully enough--but the water out of the hand pump was very good, and provided a little exercise, too!

August 2023. The campground was quiet and beautiful. The sites were very spacious, allowing for multiple or very large tents. The falls were amazing, and despite the popularity of the area, it was easy to find solitude and calm. It seems to be a very family-oriented place overall, especially the upper loop, with lots of kids. Hiking was great. The Lewis River Trail was beautiful upstream and down. Lots of swimming holes!
I would advise bringing lots of drinking water. I do not know how often they test the drinking water, but it was cloudy, yellow, rusty-tasting, and very unpleasant. Only one of the very old hand pumps was working in the campground at this point.

The scenery is GORGEOUS and the campground was generally clean. There are A LOT of mice at this campground and they wreaked havoc in our trailer. The route to get to the campground is rough.

The campground badly needs a host or at least the occasional pass by a ranger. We waited an hour for the person who'd claimed our reserved spot to appear so that we could kick them out. They, in turn, had been waiting for the person in their spot to leave.
A lovely place, but in need of supervision.
Never saw a ranger or host during our two-night stay.

Beautiful location. Campground is close to the river and waterfalls. Recommend camping instead of just day use. Vault toilets are a little gross and stinky.

Great clean campgrounds with lots of shade! There’s also a river that runs along the campground that is absolutely beautiful! Bathrooms are also well maintained.

Big campsites, big trees, astonishing waterfalls make this place worth the long bumpy drive.
