What Guests Are Saying
Lower Falls Campground features spacious, well-maintained campsites with ample shade and beautiful riverside views, making it an ideal spot for nature lovers. The breathtaking nearby waterfalls and numerous hiking trails enhance the camping experience, although the campground lacks adequate water stations and has issues with cleanliness in the bathrooms. Overall, visitors appreciate the serene environment, helpful camp hosts, and the opportunity to disconnect from technology in a picturesque setting.

Love our stay with friends at Lower Lewis River Falls. Good hiking, unparalleled swimming (if you like cold water) and beautiful old forests. The sites are large, roomy and have great buffers between sites. I am so glad Mt Adams Ranger District took it over and I truly appreciate the reservation system which is keeping the place from being overrun. The road is rough but improved over last year.

Spots are far apart from each other which is great. Recommend the hike to middle falls.

There was no ranger or host. There were many empty sites.

Had not been camping since Covid first hit in 2020 and this was my first time back. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by how much cleaner it was (litter) and how despite numerous campsites, it was still quite and peaceful. I believe it has everything to do with the traffic of day-goers drastically dropping since I learned it’s a reservation only area. And I’m all for it! Weather was great when I was there and the campsite 43 on the upper loop was very nice as well. Close to the water pump and just the right distance from the bathrooms. Plenty of surrounding trees and was able to nestle my 3-person tent near the back of the site within some trees. It also has the right amount of space around the picnic table. I would recommend this site for 3-4 adults. It’s neighboring site to the right (if you’re facing the road) is sort of close if privacy is your main concern. Had zero issues with our neighbors that day. The park ranger was also very professional. Overall it was a pleasant experience and will definitely be returning in the future.

We stayed in site 28 and it was absolutely perfect. right next to the hiking trail and river, so much space and privacy. 10/10 experience, definitely want to come back next year!

Getting to lower falls campground was a bit rough. the road is not very well maintained due to all the dips and low hanging branches. However, once you get to the campground you have plenty of room between campsites. The roads wide enough to maneuver through. The place is well kept and plenty of stuff to keep you busy. If you go, bring your own firewood because I watched lots of people looking for wood and there really isn't any wood available. If you love the water this is your place to be. you can swim at all three falls and the water felt refreshing on the hot days. Also go fo a drive because you will be able to find other places nearby to enjoy.

This is a great campground and really affordable. Close to the river and the waterfall and miles of trail. Had a great time!

We loved the campground and our campsite. Not all site’s are equal, but most are nice. We had an averaged sized single site and were able to fit two large tents, with room to spare.
It was a very hot weekend, with temperatures in the 90s. Visiting the river was the plan, but we didn’t expect a 10 degree temperature drop and lovely swimming opportunities. We all stayed very comfortable in the heat. My 7-year old had a blast swimming, too!
