What Guests Are Saying
Lower Falls Campground features spacious, well-maintained campsites with ample shade and beautiful riverside views, making it an ideal spot for nature lovers. The breathtaking nearby waterfalls and numerous hiking trails enhance the camping experience, although the campground lacks adequate water stations and has issues with cleanliness in the bathrooms. Overall, visitors appreciate the serene environment, helpful camp hosts, and the opportunity to disconnect from technology in a picturesque setting.

The area was clean and well kept. No noisy neighbors and even when I heard them it was faint. Keep up the amazing facility!

We camped with about 7 families July 2021 and all had a blast. Even though it was a trek to get there, the campground was beautiful. Sites were all large and well confiugred. We enjoyed the 2 mile hike to the Middle Falls and the easy ascess to Lower Falls. Our 5 year old enjoyed the paved road to ride her bike. The bathroom facilities were clean and not too stinky. We look forward to camping here again.

Large, spacious and private campsites. Very close proximity to the river, especially if you stay in the lower loop.
The camp host/ranger was not friendly - old and grumpy - came over to my site accusing us of throwing something at him. No idea what he was talking about. When we arrived our site was filthy, we had to spend a half hour picking up the trash from the last group.
The falls are beautiful and we will be back to this campground. Just hope that next time there is a change in host.

Beautiful area in old growth forest. Gorgeous hike along the Lewis River. Reservation system is messed up however. Unable to book two consecutive nights in the same campsite, but neither site was occupied on the nights the website said were filled. Camp host wasn’t around.

The Drive out from Olympia was beautiful. Roads were not as bad as other reviews claim, there was a patch about a mile long right before camp grounds that is being paved and is currently gravel but passable with a trailer just fine. We had site 21 its a double site and was perfect for two families camping together!
The walk to the falls was quick and easy! Water was cold and the rocks to cross are slippery. If you cross the river stay on the moss pads in the water it will help with your traction. Also don’t go for the first steep trail down to falls, if you go a little further there are two more easier areas to get into the river with Ropes to help with small climb back up. It was easy for kids and elderly to access the river on the rope paths.
This is a great location to camp! The sound of the river at night will put you right to sleep! So peaceful and calming
The bathrooms could use some love and shoot even a light lol! So make sure when your going to the toilet at night you take your flashlights!
Around 11 pm it was pitch black and you could look right up through the canopy of trees to the amazing stars that looked so close you feel like you could touch them!
We can’t wait to go back again next year!
The falls do have some small areas good for kids to swim but for the adults the big swimming area was amazing!
We hope this review helps some people make up their kind in enjoying this area!
Don’t believe some of those other reviews, I feel people are just trying to keep people from seeing how amazing this area was!
Enjoy!!

The location is amazing; however, there were no camp hosts or organization or regulating of campfires/loud campers.

USFS over-reaction to the crowd problem they caused two years ago by posting Lower Falls on the cover page of the Forest website is unneeded over-kill. Pretense at enforcement with untrained summer crew is unfit for presentation to a Magistrate. Forest administrators arr neither caring for the resource NOR serving the public. (So much for the so-called agency "mission".)
Handwork of incapable policy makers is evident all along 90 Road when nothing but negative messages are posted. Neither education nor safety nor public service is being achieved. USFS "face' toe public is indistinguishable from a nagging ex-wife but, given staffing these days, maybe that's accurate.
Money spent on covering their own mistakes could be better spent on real, needed facilities' maintenance. Despite concentrating of funds inside Lower Falls CG, neglect of capital facilities elsewhere on the upper Lewis borders on criminal. Priorities of destroying old logging spurs (e.g. Rush Creek Trail) warrants firing of personnel.
