What Guests Are Saying
Holter Lake Campground offers beautiful, well-maintained sites with friendly and helpful staff, providing stunning views of the lake and various recreational activities like fishing and boating. Many guests appreciate the cleanliness, convenient boat launch, and the inviting atmosphere created by fellow campers. However, issues such as noise disturbances, reservation challenges, and limited amenities like electricity and dump stations have been noted, particularly during busy weekends.

Our stay was good , we enjoyed weather and our sight was nice . The camp host was friendly but it looked like the sights not only ours had not been cleaned for a while fire pit s were full of half burned wood cigarette butts lying around etc bathrooms were very clean every day .
One thing we noticed was there were not many campers and this was the week before the labor day weekend we checked out on Friday and still only a handful of campers . Most of the sights while we were there were available for one night only but that was for the 5 days we were there . What’s the deal are people booking on line and then canceling and sights are open and people don’t know ? Other then that it’s a nice campground.

The sites are large and a nice distance from each other. The boat dock was great for our use and one the the nicest one we've seen. The vault toilets were clean. There are some shade trees, but overall good view of the surrounding area.

We love camping at Holter Lake however I will pick a different site next time since we were downwind from the garbage and the bathrooms and it was AWFUL! I don't know if the garbage dumpsters can be moved but they were VERY RIPE after the weekend and 90 degree temperatures. I think we were in site #27 (or #29).

The camp was clean. We have a 40’ 5th wheel that easily fit in the space allotted. The camp hosts were friendly and helpful. You can drive to the Beartooth Wildlife management area and there is also a road going up to the Helena National Forest. Both roads are very rough in places. There are also rough camp sites in both areas. We rode our e-bikes to Wolf Creek for ice cream and laundry. One thing to note - there is no place to dump the rv, but there is a place in Cascade.
