What Guests Are Saying
Smokemont Campground offers a clean and tranquil setting with ample space, a nearby stream, and access to numerous hiking trails. Many visitors appreciate the wildlife, including elk sightings, and the helpful staff. While some amenities like showers are lacking, the overall experience is positive, with a focus on nature and a peaceful atmosphere. However, campsite proximity and occasional noise from fellow campers can be drawbacks.

Smokemont is one of our favorite campgrounds. Got a spot by the river, went horseback riding, went hiking to Andrew’s Bald! Saw bear and a ton of elk!

Would have been great but no.lighting in bathrooms caused a lot of trouble and concern for a family with 3 young girls. Please don't consider elimination of lighting going forward. Unsafe and concerning.

A specific ground worker for the park speeding through campground around kids just to find something to complain about with us we’ve camped here many times and every time he harasses us. Probably won’t be back here it was supposed to be a fun camping trip every time but it wasn’t due to him .

The campsite was nice. We backed up to a stream, and the site was relatively flat. Unfortunately, they were doing a "study" at the bathrooms where the lights were off and not able to be turned on. It was quite difficult to, first, find the bathroom at night and, then, use it. (We rolled in after dark and had to ask another guest where it was, even though we had a map.)
