What Guests Are Saying
Smokemont Campground offers a clean and tranquil setting with ample space, a nearby stream, and access to numerous hiking trails. Many visitors appreciate the wildlife, including elk sightings, and the helpful staff. While some amenities like showers are lacking, the overall experience is positive, with a focus on nature and a peaceful atmosphere. However, campsite proximity and occasional noise from fellow campers can be drawbacks.

Wonderful experience. Excellent "primitive" camping. The staff at the camp were very friendly and helpful. The area is gorgeous with numerous trails near the camp ground and there were many elk along the roads. The hardest thing to get used to was absolutely no internet and no cell coverage at all - totally off the grid! Not something that happens very often these days. Be prepared! But after the surprise, it was very nice to be completely out of the loop for a change. Highly recommended - a great experience!

We camped for two nights and campground was wonderful. Sites was clean when we arrived. No showers but bathrooms were clean, well lit and maintained. Lots of trees that provide good shade and even blocker some rain when it rained a little first night we were there. Creek runs next to the campground and you can hear it at night which I personally find soothing.
We stayed here for a day hike to Mt LeConte. Alum Cave trailhead is only 30 minutes drive so we were able to get up early to arrive in time to find parking.
Enjoyed our time there and will definitely go back.

I have been camping 🏕 @ Smokemont for 14 yrs it's a nice campground but over the last few years it has changed some campsites need gravel and some people come to camp and do whatever they want park in grass and move rocks i ❤️ the Smokies please respect it and 1 thing that bothers me the most is F LOOP IS NOT for tents and camphosts turn a blind eye, it clearly has a sign saying no tent camping, there are plenty other campsites for tent camping, I really like Smokemont I wish people would respect and abide by the rules
