What Guests Are Saying
Smokemont Campground offers a clean and tranquil setting with ample space, a nearby stream, and access to numerous hiking trails. Many visitors appreciate the wildlife, including elk sightings, and the helpful staff. While some amenities like showers are lacking, the overall experience is positive, with a focus on nature and a peaceful atmosphere. However, campsite proximity and occasional noise from fellow campers can be drawbacks.

Great location. Bathrooms didn't have soap, so bring hand soap

This campground offers some lovely water side sites that are always cool. Just sitting by the water is relaxing. This campground is convenient to going into Cherokee if cell service is needed but has large sites and gets you fully into the woods for a sense of adventure. We have been coming back for more than 40 years. Thank you!

Who wouldn't want to check out the Great Smokey Mountains? The place was great, the people were nice. We loved the hiking there!

Smokemont campground was very peaceful and quiet. It was nice to be so close to the river. The bathrooms were very clean. I loved that generators were off from 8pm to 8am, we slept very soundly. I would highly recommend this campground for tent camping or RV camping!

The bathrooms were not as clean as they usually are. They had a foul odor for the four days we were there. A "light study" was being conducted in the nearest bathroom, and there were no lights. I don't know what this "study" was about, but it was a real inconvenience.

The campground is beautiful and the sites are spacious (we were in F section). We could hear the river from our site, and get to it without any problem. The bathrooms were clean, but lights not on after dark. Would prefer LED lights that come on automatically when someone enters. The thing that would make this campground so much better would be hot showers!
