The campground is very well maintained with clean bathrooms and good drinking water. There are no showers or electric which makes for a great real outdoor camping trip. It's close to Cherokee and Bryson City which is great for tubing, rafting, kayaking and other activities.

The campground was very nice, clean, shady, and cool. The ranger who checked me in was friendly and professional, as were other NPS staff.
This campground has a 'no-tents' loop. I truly wish it had a no-generator loop. Nothing spoils a quiet camping trip like the sound of numerous RV'ers cranking up their generators at 8am every morning.

Smokemont continues to be one of our most loved camping areas. I would like to see the parks implement a later generator time. 10 to 6 is more than enough time to charge your batteries. F loop at this point should be renamed G loop, for generators.

Overall we had a great trip and loved our time at Smokemont Campground- one of the few parks we revisit each year. With that said- could use a few upgrades. Maybe a cell service repeater or mini tower. Showers would be nice. And put some decibel restrictions on generators in F loop. Some people bring construction generators- way too loud.
