What Guests Are Saying
Smokemont Campground offers a clean and tranquil setting with ample space, a nearby stream, and access to numerous hiking trails. Many visitors appreciate the wildlife, including elk sightings, and the helpful staff. While some amenities like showers are lacking, the overall experience is positive, with a focus on nature and a peaceful atmosphere. However, campsite proximity and occasional noise from fellow campers can be drawbacks.

Perfect trip, not a single complaint. The campgrounds are very well kept, the bathrooms clean, and the area was great. I highly recommend site D32. Online says there are no tent pads in D loop, but there is one in D32. The site is right across from the creek and at the end of the campground so it is very peaceful.

We LOVED Smokemont and extended our stay several times at both Smokemont and Elkmont in GSMNP. Loved it!

Great campsite. Just sorry that leaf blowing started early on Sunday. No chance for a lie in. Loved the nature trail.

Wonderful campground beside the river with plenty of tree coverage. Many pull through sites in the back of the campground, with back in sites up front. Some sites are extremely large and have great space between them. Backing up to other sites is closer. Bathrooms are spaced out well. Dish washing station available, but only cold water. Bathrooms weren't super clean but toilet paper never ran out. Bear proof trash bins also plentiful. The tent pads were huge!
We enjoyed this campground and will most likely return. Only concern was the tree cover. While setting up camp a LARGE limb fell over 30 feet to the ground, shattering. It would have killed someone. Definitely look up and be aware if you hear a pop sound-RUN. We saw some rangers at check in on Thursday, but not again until Sunday. Kinda weird not to see any for days. But come Sunday there were plenty rolling through the campground. overall noise level was good at night. I will say the leaves covered the roadways and at night it was hard to see the B spur that cuts in the middle. We saw leaf machines on Sunday but they skipped the spur.
