Just post closedown where the party in power didn't like healthcare for the poor. Therefore, the park was not up to its usual pare. It was closedown in many areas. Still had a delightful time though.

Great site with wonderful views. Be prepared to carry your gear up a trail to get to the site. The bear box was awesome and convenient for storing your food.

Great location, good campsite not on top of any other campsites and close to the bathroom.

We camped at Chisos Basin last week during the shutdown. Everything went great. We backpacked in to south rim #4. Only saw a few other people packing in. Everything was clean and in great shape. Back at Chisos we made a few trips to the food truck. Thanks to all of the people who were working to keep it going.

Wonderful place! Campsite (#26) didn’t have a tent pad but it was still fun.

I'm bummed that the basin will be closed for a few years.

Amazing experience. Everyone really respected the park and eachothers space. The rangers were always around but not breathing down your neck. Everything was clean and operational. My buddy had Verizon and had service at most times. I have ATT and did not until getting out of the basin. Its beatiful here. Absolutely worth it.

Nice. Didn’t like being so close to other campers. And wish there were showers. But overall pretty cool

It’s a paved parking lot but RVs are off to the sides for a bit of privacy. Picnic tables. Description says no cell service but ATT gave us two bars. The one water spigot does not take a hose so no-one can fill up their tanks but interestingly blasts out water in all directions, thereby wasting a lot of water. It’s conveniently at the trailhead for Guadalupe and Devil’s Hall- two great hikes.
