About Molly Brown

Named after the "unsinkable" Molly Brown on the Titanic, Molly Brown Campground, on the eastern shore of Turquoise Lake, sits in a shaded lodgepole pine forest. The campground offers access to boating, fishing, and hiking. The famous Molly Brown lived in the town of Leadville, just 5 miles east of the campground. She became wealthy from her husband's mining success and took on a life as a philanthropist, socialite and activist.

What Guests Are Saying

Molly Brown campground is praised for its beautiful location, spacious sites, and excellent amenities, such as clean restrooms and attentive hosts. Campers appreciate the stunning sunsets, proximity to hiking trails, and activities like paddleboarding and biking. However, a recurring concern is the lack of potable water, which requires guests to bring their own supplies.

Have stayed there many times and this is the worst experience I’ve ever had. No water (we knew that ahead of time). The fire pit was so full we could not start a fire. Someone before us had dug some ashes out and dumped them next to the pit. We were there four days and the restroom was not cleaned once. They only put new tp in. Saw the camp hosts one time as they drove through quickly. They never checked to see if we were in the right campsite or said hello. This used to be an adventure we looked forward to, but probably will not return.

We were in Site 14, just a short walk from the Lake, and an even shorter walk from the toilet. Nearly level site. We thought it was the best in the campground. No dump station at any of the campgrounds on Turquois Lake, but not such a problem that I would deduct a star. Beautiful sunsets to the west across the lake.

Molly Brown is close to the mountain biking trails, which are very nice. There's a slight view of the lake from this site, and a very short walk. It gets windy in the afternoon, so the sites right on the lake can be challenging, but this one was sheltered and had pretty good privacy.
