About Molly Brown

Named after the "unsinkable" Molly Brown on the Titanic, Molly Brown Campground, on the eastern shore of Turquoise Lake, sits in a shaded lodgepole pine forest. The campground offers access to boating, fishing, and hiking. The famous Molly Brown lived in the town of Leadville, just 5 miles east of the campground. She became wealthy from her husband's mining success and took on a life as a philanthropist, socialite and activist.

What Guests Are Saying

Molly Brown Campground offers a stunning location with beautiful views, spacious and well-maintained sites, and easy access to Turquoise Lake, making it a favorite for many campers. The hosts are attentive, keeping the facilities clean and providing helpful recommendations for local activities. However, the lack of potable water and occasional issues with restroom cleanliness have been noted by some visitors, but overall, the campground is highly recommended for its serene environment and outdoor opportunities.

Beautiful scenery. Great bike trial along the lake. We stayed in a 26 Trailer. One of the best spots on the lake. No drinking water available hurts the review. They should give us a discount for having to drive into town to buy water. Firewood prices are ridiculous. $10 for 5 sticks of wood.

Awesome campsite, great mountain biking and SUP’ing. The prices on the web need to be updated. They charge $10/nt for an extra vehicle, not $8.

We've camped here several times and it's always been great. The camp sites are clean and orderly, never too far from the lake.

Of course, Leadville is worth a visit, but for getting outdoors I have to recommend Mayflower Gulch. Its halfway between Leadville and I70 on the east bound side of the road. A moderate 1.5 mile hike to the most beautiful meadow surrounded by majestic peaks. Can't be more than 25 minutes from Molly Brown.

Clean quiet campground. Very busy for a summer, mid week camp out. Lots of campers riding bikes and jogging. I loved every minute.

This campsite was awesome. Super well maintained and relatively isolated. Lake was close and overall was a super fun experience.

We were here only one night in 36. Not right on the lake, but the hiking path to it is right down the hill and only couple of minutes to a nice sandy beach. We saw a great sunset and went swimming the next morning. The stars at night were amazing. The milky way is really visible when you camp at a lake two miles up.
The downside is the sights are fairly exposed.
We could see other campers and a big 5th wheel trailer next to us, but fortunately everyone was quiet.
We took a break from camp food that night and went in to Leadville 10 to 15 minutes away. We ate at Treeline restaurant. It was sooo good.
