What Guests Are Saying
Smokemont Campground offers a clean and tranquil setting with ample space, a nearby stream, and access to numerous hiking trails. Many visitors appreciate the wildlife, including elk sightings, and the helpful staff. While some amenities like showers are lacking, the overall experience is positive, with a focus on nature and a peaceful atmosphere. However, campsite proximity and occasional noise from fellow campers can be drawbacks.

Campground is very nice. Site was fine. Water fill and dump station were very much in need of repair. Had to use a bungee cord to keep water on. Spend some of the tag money on repairs!

Easily accessible campground with wooded sites, many of them pull-through. Appreciated easy access to washrooms and dumpsters. It was a quiet and peaceful stay.

We had a wonderful time celebrating Mother's Day with our children and grandchildren at Smokemont. We grilled hamburgers and hotdogs, with lots of fixings on the side. Our grandchildren enjoyed riding their bikes around F Loop.

While it is understandable that the entire campground is not open in early April, we do not understand why tent campers and those in RVs or cars with generators cannot be designated to a separate section. We came to camp, to listen to the brook and wildlife NOT to listen to motors.
Bathrooms need updating and daily cleaning.
Aside from these comments, the location is convenient to hiking trails, the sites are level, and it still has a wild feeling to it. Elk roamed the campground daily.

What a terrific campground! The restrooms were clean, and the campground was peaceful. We didn't hear our neighbors in the evening, and even had two elk walk thru one morning.

Clean bathrooms and campsite.
Beautiful setting although the campsites are open and close together.
Keep in mind that there is no privacy here.
Great location for the trails in the southern section of park. Some trails lead off from the campground which is convenient.
