What Guests Are Saying
Smokemont Campground offers a clean and tranquil setting with ample space, a nearby stream, and access to numerous hiking trails. Many visitors appreciate the wildlife, including elk sightings, and the helpful staff. While some amenities like showers are lacking, the overall experience is positive, with a focus on nature and a peaceful atmosphere. However, campsite proximity and occasional noise from fellow campers can be drawbacks.

Mostly quiet and clean. Only issues were no soap in the bathroom and the light was not working one night.
Not huge issues but had to use own lighting and soap for the restroom.
Otherwise a pleasant experience.

10pm quiet time was held by everyone. Very nice. Generators barely ran around me during daylight hours. Not really private anywhere so bring shelters that can help give seclusion needed.

Wonderful campground and campsite by the river in a gorgeous setting in the Park. Highly recommend! Thank you for helping to make this one of our national treasures and preserving it.

Peaceful campground, with a beautiful river running the length of the grounds. Close to lots of trailheads with spectacular hikes. Even the Smokemont loop is a wonderful hike. The Kephart Prong trail was magical, like being in the garden of eden, with too many wildflowers to list. Only complaint about the campground was the short time that attendants were available to buy wood. We had to drive to Cherokee to get it, so you may want to purchase wood on your way in.

Smokemont is an excellent campground on the southeast side of GSMNP. Pretty close (7 mi) to Cherokee for services and supplies, yet not too far from the most popular trailheads. The campground is well laid out with paved padd and ample space for outdoor seating / cooking. Good, convenient restrooms with flush toilets and a graywater sink. NO SHOWERS. LIMITED MOBILE PHONE SERVICE. Our trailer is 29' and this is pretty close to the max size for Loop C.

Don't expect to get a generator site until the whole campground opens up.

Beautiful setting. We'll maintained sites and bathrooms. The stables (less than a mile away) had a steady supply of firewood and ice at more than reasonable prices. Will definitely be back!

Tried to adjust my reservation from the day I arrived. No cell service so no way to call 800 number and no one working check-in booth the help either. By the time I could call 800 number my request for reservation change or refund was denied. Not a great stay! Worst at national park to date.
