What Guests Are Saying
Smokemont Campground offers a clean and tranquil setting with ample space, a nearby stream, and access to numerous hiking trails. Many visitors appreciate the wildlife, including elk sightings, and the helpful staff. While some amenities like showers are lacking, the overall experience is positive, with a focus on nature and a peaceful atmosphere. However, campsite proximity and occasional noise from fellow campers can be drawbacks.

I think there should be a deadline for campers coming in and setting up late. it's not fair for people who are asleep usually by 10 pm , then here come folks close to you driving up, setting up, slamming cars doors, talking loud, sometime cooking, etc. this is very aggervating! Impossible to sleep. NO one should be allowed to come in and set up after 8 pm.

Campground is very clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Campgrounds are very beautiful with the river running on the edge of the grounds. Wish they had electrical hookups as their generator regulations are very restrictive, the Federal government seems to only allow them to run at night if needed for a CPAP - I need it for other health conditions caused by my service in the U.S. Army. Even if you can run a generator it has to be under 68 decibels, which forces you to buy the most expensive generators on the market. Expect to unplug when you camp here as cell phone, tv, radio and satellite signals are non-existent, which is great!

Site F15 needs to have some gravel placed in the low spots, it holds water when it rains.

Great camping sites. Close to Cherokee town , Smoky Mountain visitor center and to horse back riding. We were able to purchase ice and firewood there. We visited Cherokee Indian visitor center, museum of Cherokee people, white water rafting about 45 minutes with Carolina Outfitters, visit Bryson city, play in the water that ran through the campground. We've visited most of the campgrounds in the National park but have been coming back to Smokemount for 10 years.
