What Guests Are Saying
Smokemont Campground offers a clean and tranquil setting with ample space, a nearby stream, and access to numerous hiking trails. Many visitors appreciate the wildlife, including elk sightings, and the helpful staff. While some amenities like showers are lacking, the overall experience is positive, with a focus on nature and a peaceful atmosphere. However, campsite proximity and occasional noise from fellow campers can be drawbacks.

Clean Bathrooms, clean campground, ice and firewood at the campground. Super quiet and it's a rural campground (Dark) and you can hear the river from any site.

The campground was great with ample space between sites and well maintained. We were in Loop F -- RV's only and generators allowed. The generators were somewhat annoying even though their use was restricted to 8AM to 8PM. The park staff were very helpful with questions regarding surrounding hiking trails and access to groceries and other services. The Smokemont Loop Trail was beautiful, but hiker beware if you do the full loop and not an out an back, the 1100 foot climb and descent is relentless. We would stay at Smokemont again being more cautious to avoid Loop F and the generator potential.

I have been at this location in 5 occasions. My best camping experience thus far. Beautiful place, friendly staff, and close to major attractions.

It was a nightmare driving to Cades Cove to see animals. It was a five miles loop and took 5-6 hours. Fortunately, I saw three turkeys; plus, a mama bear with her two cuds (don't expect you will be so fortunate like me). However, the best part of the Smokey is not the animals but the foliage. I will come back next year just for the scenery; instead of bears.
I love the Smokey.
